Chapter 1698 has teamed up with Cleveland High School to put real airplanes in the hands of students — turning the classroom into a workshop where the next generation of aviators learns by building.
With guidance from chapter mentors, Cleveland High School students are building genuine, airworthy aircraft from the ground up. The program kicks off with a Van's Aircraft RV-12iS — a modern two-seat light sport airplane and one of the most popular kit builds in the world.
Along the way, students learn to read plans, rivet aluminum, route wiring, install avionics, and understand the engineering that makes an airplane fly. It's an education in craftsmanship, teamwork, and problem-solving — and it ends with something most people never get to say they helped create: a real airplane.
